San Diego Booking Record Search
San Diego 24 hour booking records are searchable through the county sheriff's online jail database and the city police department's records system. As California's second largest city, San Diego processes a high volume of arrests daily. The county runs a "Who's In Jail" tool that shows current inmates and recent bookings across all San Diego County detention facilities. The San Diego Police Department also has its own process for getting arrest reports. Between these two channels, you can find most recent booking data for the San Diego area at no cost.

San Diego County Jail Search
San Diego is in San Diego County, and the county sheriff operates the jail system for the region. The sheriff's "Who's In Jail" portal at apps.sdsheriff.net/wij is the main tool for looking up current inmates and recent bookings. It covers all county detention facilities, including the San Diego Central Jail, Vista Detention Facility, George Bailey Detention Facility, and others. Search by name to see who is currently in custody.
The booking data in this system updates around the clock. When someone gets arrested in San Diego and transported to a county jail, their record usually shows up within a few hours. The entry includes the name, booking date, charges, bail amount, and the facility where the person is being held. The San Diego County Sheriff's records and ID division can be reached at (858) 974-2110 for questions about booking records that are not available online. The general sheriff line is (858) 974-2222.

San Diego Police Booking Reports
The San Diego Police Department handles arrest reports for arrests made by city officers. You can get a copy of an arrest report through the SDPD records division. The department's records page at sandiego.gov/police/services/get-police-report explains the process. All reports except arrest reports cost $12. Arrest reports cost 50 cents, but only the first page can be released under current policy. This is specific to San Diego's city police records.
The SDPD records division phone number is (619) 531-2846. They handle requests for arrest records, incident reports, and other police documents. You can also file a request through the San Diego NextRequest portal at sandiego.nextrequest.com, which is useful for broader public records requests or when you need records that go beyond a single arrest report. The NextRequest system tracks your request and notifies you when it is ready.
The San Diego NextRequest portal shown above lets you submit and track public records requests, including booking and arrest records from city agencies.
Access San Diego Booking Data
San Diego booking records are public under the California Public Records Act. Government Code Section 7923.610 requires law enforcement to release the name, charges, booking time, bail, and other basic facts about every arrest. This applies to both the San Diego Police Department and the San Diego County Sheriff. You do not need a reason to ask for booking data. Anyone can search.
The California DOJ explains the public records process at oag.ca.gov/consumers/general/pra. Agencies have 10 days to respond. Copy fees are generally 10 cents per page, though the SDPD has its own pricing for arrest reports. If a record has been sealed under Penal Code Section 851.91, it will not show up in any San Diego booking search. Sealed records are removed from public systems after a court order.
